Overview

University of Economics for Management, also called HDWM or Hochschule der Wirtschaft für Management, is a state-approved private, non-profit university of applied sciences in Germany that specializes in management, business, psychology, and social work. The university was established in 2011 in Mannheim, Germany, with the aim of producing professionally competent graduates capable of meeting the demands of an evolving global economy.
 

HDWM sets itself apart through its practice-oriented education and strong industry partnerships. In collaboration with over 50 companies, the university has developed its programs to combine academic learning with internships, company projects, and real-world case studies. The small class sizes and personalized mentoring further foster learning through personalized mentoring.
 

At HDWM, students can choose from a comprehensive range of bachelor’s, master's, and MBA programs with various specializations in business and management. The programs are available in both English and German to make study in Germany more accessible for international students. With a strong emphasis on international education, HDWM provides opportunities to participate in Erasmus+ exchanges, study abroad at partner universities, complete international internships, and get a double degree in selected programs.

Intakes

University of Economics for Management intakes are available across multiple admission cycles depending on your chosen program. While there are standard two intake windows for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, the MBA programs have four intakes per year.

Cost to Study

Despite being a private university in Germany, the cost of studying at the University of Economics for Management is quite reasonable compared to other private business schools. The cost varies depending on the program and language of instruction for international students. Tuition is generally paid monthly for bachelor's and master’s programs, but for MBA programs, it is charged as a fixed total program fee.
 

To support international students financially, HDWM provides flexible payment plans and periodic tuition fee discounts for selected English-taught programs. The partner companies help keep tuition fees affordable by providing financial contributions to the university. As a non-profit organization, HDWM allocates all its revenue to university development, enhancing teaching quality and student support.

Scholarships Available

To support international students financially, HDWM provides merit-based scholarships as well as scholarships for social contributions. The university assesses students' Academic Excellence, Social Commitment, and Financial Background for awarding scholarships. Beyond the university-funded scholarships, students can also benefit from the university's partner-company financing model, under which partner companies contribute financially to the university to support high-quality education and student services.

Admission Requirement

The University of Economics for Management Admissions are granted after the applicants satisfy the selection criteria for master’s and bachelor's degree programs. The requirements vary by program; however, the university makes them easier to follow. In addition to the academic documents, international students may also be required to submit a CV, Entrance Qualifications or Degree Certificates, a copy of Passport or ID, and other course-specific documents. Once the Admissions Office approves the application, they issue a study contract that must be signed by the student and returned to confirm admission.

✅ Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 60%.
✅Applicants must have completed at least 210 ECTS credits, including 30 ECTS in a management-related field (applicable to the 3-semester master's program).

✅ IELTS Academic: An overall band score of 6.5 with no band less than 6 is required.

✅ Applicants are required to have a minimum aggregate of 70% in class 12+1 (13 years of education) from a recognized institution.

At all levels of study, the university prepares students to enter the workforce. From the first semester, the university implements practical training to help students understand the country's business dynamics and prepare them to excel in the professional world.
