Vietnam is fast shifting from a picturesque tourist destination to an emerging higher education hub. In recent years, the country has seen a steady rise in international student mobility, with approximately 22,000 foreign students currently enrolled in Vietnamese higher-education institutions. This was the highest in nearly a decade and includes a mix of self-funded learners, students on bilateral exchange programs, and those on scholarship schemes, illustrating Vietnam’s growing appeal across continents.
Over the past decade, the country has made massive investments in higher education, especially by welcoming international university campuses from the USA, the UK, and Australia. Adding to this, Vietnam’s Immigration Department highlights that student visas are now processed faster and allow extended stays aligned with course duration, making Vietnam an attractive and practical study destination.
