Exam Structure

 

The GMAT comprises four main sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Analytical Writing Assessment. 

 

The GMAT Focus Edition comprises three sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights.

 

Test Duration

 

The GMAT is 3 hours and 7 minutes long (with two optional 8-minute breaks)

 

The GMAT Focus Edition is of 2 hours and 15 minutes (with one optional 10-minute break)

 

Total Number of Questions

 

80 questions are asked in total for GMAT. 

 

64 questions are asked in total for the GMAT Focus Edition

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sections Overview 

 

For GMAT, Quantitative Reasoning has a time limit of 62 minutes, wherein 31 questions are asked.
 

Verbal Reasoning has a time limit of 65 minutes wherein 36 questions are asked. 
 

Integrated Reasoning has a time limit of 30 minutes wherein 12 questions are asked.  

 

Analytical Writing Assessment has a time limit of 30 minutes wherein 1 question is asked. 

 

For the GMAT Focus Edition, Quantitative Reasoning has a time limit of 45 minutes, wherein 21 questions are asked. 

Verbal Reasoning also has a time limit of 45 minutes wherein 23 questions are asked. 

Data Insights also has a time limit of 45 minutes wherein 20 questions are asked. 

 

Review & Edit

 

The GMAT didn’t have a review & edit feature. 

 

The GMAT Focus Edition has an option for review & edit for all sections and questions including bookmarked questions.

 

Scoring

 

The GMAT has a score range of 200-800.

 

The GMAT Focus Edition has a score range of 205-805.  

 

Score Reports

 

The GMAT scores are reported on a fixed scale and have a percentile ranking. 

 

The GMAT Focus Edition has an improved score report with detailed performance insights.

 

Validity 

 

The GMAT scores are valid for five years. 

 

The GMAT Focus Edition scores are also valid for five years.

 

Fees 

 

The GMAT fee in India is $275. 

 

The GMAT Focus Edition exam fee is $275, just like its predecessor.
