Most students choosing a course to study abroad usually look at rankings, fees, or which university name will sit better on LinkedIn. What almost no one talks about while making this decision is immigration strategy. And that is a big miss. Matching your student visa to actual job shortages can matter just as much as the degree itself, yet most of us completely ignore it. Many countries talk about this idea, but very few actually make it work in a clear, honest way.
Well, New Zealand did & built an entire system around this thinking and called it the Green List courses. Think of it as the country holding up a sign that says, ‘We need you’ for specific professions and then backing it up with a proper, documented path from a student visa to permanent residency. This is great because most of the countries' immigration systems are designed to keep people out, not invite them into their workforce!
