New Programs at University of California Berkeley

The University of California, Berkeley, is a public research university located in Berkeley, California. The University of California, Berkeley, Extension is a branch of UC Berkeley and offers international students short-term study abroad programs for academic credit as well as professional certificates.

Berkeley Pre-College Scholars: Summer Residential Program

This program is especially for the high school students and recent high school graduates who're aiming to pursue their further education USA. They can experience life in Berkeley while taking university-level courses, benefit from the opportunity to improve their English and prepare to apply to U.S universities.

  • Program Length: 6-8 weeks

College Foundations Program(For college preparation)

Students who have recently completed high school can take part in these Foundation Programs which extend over a semester or full year. The focus of the program is on exam preparation and college admissions advising while taking university-level coursework. Those who enrol can build English skills and become familiar with typical U.S. university classroom discussions and assignments.

Programs for Undergraduate or Graduate-Level Students

 

Berkeley Global Access Program (BGA Discover - all majors)

This is a Semester or yearlong program allowing undergraduate and graduate students to take UC Berkeley and UC Berkeley Extension courses. You can explore a variety of courses based on your academic interests. The best part of the program is that the academic credit can transfer back to the home university.

  • English Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL: 90 (iBT) or, IELTS
  • Academic Format: 6.5 or TOEIC: 800+
  • Program Length: 1-2 semesters (4-8 months)
  • Start Dates: January and August

 

Berkeley Haas Global Access Program (business/entrepreneurship)

Take the advantage of a semester or yearlong entrepreneurship program for undergraduate or graduate students focusing on business topics. The courses are taken at the top-ranked public business school in the U.S. Participants also gain exposure to Silicon Valley companies and may participate in internships and apply for OPT work visas after the program ends.

Berkeley Law Global Access Program (legal studies)

This is a single-semester program with courses at the top-ranked law school on the fundamentals of U.S. law, entrepreneurship, and legal change to intellectual property law, international law and business law. You have the best opportunity to study with an elite group of students and learn in a vibrant, experimental environment. You'll learn from highly experienced professors of law and take advantage of their years of exposure.

  • Program Length: 1 semester (4 months)

College of Environmental Design Global Access Program (architecture)

This is a Semester or yearlong program for undergraduate or graduate students focusing on architecture, city planning/urban studies, and landscape architecture. Architecture Program is ranked #4 in the world by QS Ranking. Best scope to learn in radically new ways.

  • Requirements: TOEFL: 90 or IELTS
  • Academic Format: 7
  • Program Length: 1-2 semesters (4-8 months)
  • Start Dates: January and August

 

Programs for Undergraduates, Graduate-level Students and Working Professionals

 

International Diploma Programs (business certificates)

Intensive 4-12-month certificate programs focused on business topics open to 4th year undergraduate or graduate students and working professionals. Gives you options to participate in internships at U.S. companies and apply for OPT work visas after the program ends.

  • TOEFL: 79 or IELTS
  • Academic Format: 6.5
  • Program Length: 9 months- 1 year. One certificate takes 3 years to complete.
