The study abroad scenario has changed quite a bit in recent years. New destinations are gaining attention, student priorities are evolving, and the choices today look quite different from what they did a few years ago. Amid all this change, Germany continues to stand out. In 2025/26, around 420,000 international students were enrolled at German universities, a 4% increase from the previous year.
What makes this even more interesting is that the growth isn’t recent. The country has seen its international student numbers rise consistently for more than a decade. So, if the ‘Land of Poets & Thinkers’ is on your study abroad list, you’re clearly not the only one considering it.
