2. Need-Based Scholarships 

These scholarships are based on financial needs and are mostly awarded to US citizens but a few universities and colleges also consider international students. The awards would vary from institution to institution. 


3. Government-Funded Scholarships 

The two major scholarship programs provided by US government for international students are: 

  • Fulbright Foreign Student Program: This program is for graduate students and artists who desire to study in the United States for at least one-year duration. Open to all fields except medicine. 
  • Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program: This scholarship is more for professionals who want to do academic study in the United States for at least 10 months. 


4. Privately-Funded Scholarships 

Private organizations or donors also fund scholarships for international students which mostly have strict eligibility requirements. 


5. US Colleges and Universities offering Scholarships 

Most of the leading universities in the USA provide scholarship and fellowship opportunities to students for different levels of education and for varying duration of study. The scholarships can be: 

  • University-Wide Financial Options, 
  • Department-Specific,
