Kenya stands today at a significant rising point in education, propelled by demographic youthfulness, rising secondary and tertiary enrolments, and growing aspirations among its students to study abroad. Over half of Kenya’s population is under 25 years of age, reflecting a massive youth bulge seeking upward mobility through higher education.
In recent years, tertiary enrolment in Kenya has surged significantly. Between 2014 and 2022, the number of University-Level students increased by approximately 28%, bringing the total to around 562,000 students, making Kenya the fourth-largest higher education enrolment market in Africa. According to the Commission for University Education, as of 2022–23, nearly 559,620 students were enrolled in Universities across Kenya.
