Ireland has brought this policy into effect as an effort not only to protect students’ ability to stay in Ireland after their studies to work but also to discourage students from travelling back to Ireland during COVID. So, this policy would be in the best of the interests of international students as well as the Irish citizens in these testing times.&nbsp;</p><h2 style="text-align:justify;">&nbsp;</h2><h2 style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:hsl(0,0%,0%);">For how long will this policy last?&nbsp;</span></h2><p style="text-align:justify;">International students studying online and/or remotely in their second semester of an Irish higher education programme will remain eligible for the Third Level Graduate Programme (1G) for a short time.&nbsp;</p><h2 style="text-align:justify;">&nbsp;</h2><h2 style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:hsl(0,0%,0%);">Benefits of Third Level Graduate Programme&nbsp;</span></h2><ul><li style="text-align:justify;">As per this programme, non-EU/EEA students graduating with a degree from a recognised Irish awarding body can remain in Ireland to look for graduate-level employment for up to 24 months depending on their level of schooling attained.&nbsp;</li><li style="text-align:justify;">These students will be allowed to apply for a Green Card (work permit) after 24 months. *Students studying remotely in Irish ‘Level 8 or 9’ programmes (including honours bachelor’s, master’s, and post-graduate) can apply until 31st May 2021.&nbsp;</li></ul><h2 style="text-align:justify;">&nbsp;</h2><h2 style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:hsl(0,0%,0%);">How to apply?&nbsp;</span></h2><p style="text-align:justify;">International Students who have returned to their home countries due to the pandemic or those who have not been able to obtain an appointment because of COVID restrictions can submit their applications, along with scan copies of required documents, electronically to the Registration Office, Burgh Quay, Dublin.
