The Scholarship will help pay the awardees the first year of college fees to a maximum amount of $10,000.


Eligibility Criteria

So, what are the eligibility criteria for the students who want to apply for the Scholarship? Below are the points aspirants should keep in mind before applying:

  • All applicants must be new international students enrolling in a UG program at an eligible institution and paying full international tuition.
  • Applicants should have a U.S. equivalent grade point average (GPA) in the A range, roughly like an NCEA Level 3 Certificate validated with Excellence from Year 13. 
  • Students attending a secondary school in New Zealand will be evaluated based on their NCEA Level 2 or Level 3 with the Excellence endorsement.
  • Students applying for the Spring 2023 semester must start their program in either the first or second semester of that year.


Who are not eligible for the Scholarship?

  • Students graduated from either the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Program or English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  • Students attending one of the international institutions with which Victoria University of Wellington collaborate on Study Overseas and Pathway programs
  • Students participating in post-secondary education by working toward a Master's degree or Doctorate
  • Students enrolled in or have recently completed their second year of the same degree program at Victoria University of Wellington.


Rules and Conditions

The Victoria University of Wellington Scholarship also has some rules, regulations, and conditions before you reap the fruition of the same. Let's assess those before we go further: 

  • Scholarship awards depend upon the recipient's full-time enrollment status within the parameters and duration of the Scholarship. 
  • The Scholarship award will be disbursed once this requirement is met.
  • Scholarship funds are not transferable to another academic year.
  • This award cannot be combined with any other form of financial assistance from Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. This includes Manaaki NZ Scholarships.
  • It is intended that the Scholarship will be repaid in full if the recipient drops out of their program at Victoria University of Wellington while the Scholarship is in effect. Recipients are responsible for informing Wellington University International of their withdrawal plans if any.
  • The Deciding Authority may, in its sole discretion, make exceptions to the Scholarship's terms and conditions to accommodate exceptional circumstances or to prevent undue hardship from being imposed on any applicant.


Application Process

Any student who meets the requirements will receive the Scholarship without the application process. The aspirant's academic merit will be taken into consideration at the time of application for admission to a program of Study. Scholarship winners are contacted directly.
