Jul 10, 2023

The Australian government has just revealed the comprehensive list of CRICOS courses that will grant international graduates the opportunity to avail extended post-study work rights in the country. Following up on the previous announcement pertaining to the extended Post-Study Work Rights, this latest update will further provide an exceptional educational experience along with promising career prospects for international students.

Adding one more reason to the most asked question of why study in Australia, let’s dive into knowing more about this latest update.

International students enrolled in courses linked to workforce shortages can now apply to live and work for an extended period in Australia. This new policy is already effective from the 1st of July 2023, and it grants an additional two-year extension of post-study work rights to eligible international graduates.

The full list of CRICOS courses encompasses an impressive array of over 3,000 eligible courses, including fields such as science, engineering, information technology, health, teaching, and nursing. This list is organised alphabetically and if a bachelor’s or master’s course is not on this list, then it is not eligible for visa extension.

Thus, international graduates enrolled in these eligible courses will qualify for an additional two-year extension to their Temporary Graduate visa. Moreover, these in-demand sectors hold immense potential for career growth, ensuring that graduates possess the necessary skills to thrive in the Australian job market.

Under the revised regulations, the duration of post-study work rights will be substantially extended for various academic degrees. The simplified extensions for various academic degrees are given below.

  • For Selected Bachelor Degrees: Two Years to Four Years
  • For Selected Masters Degrees: Three Years to Five Years
  • For All Doctoral Degrees: Four Years to Six Years

If you are a study abroad aspirant planning to pursue your higher education in Australia, then now is the right time for you to get started with your application process.
