The concept of International University Branch Campuses in India, though not a new one, has gained ground in 2025-26 with the changing trends in overseas education. Under the 2023 University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations, certain Foreign Universities Ranked in the Global Top 500 will be able to establish independent branch campuses in India. While a few Overseas Universities are already operational, many others are gearing up to launch their operations soon. The momentum has already accelerated in October 2025, when the UK Government confirmed a significant expansion of British University Branch Campuses in India during a trade mission to Mumbai.
