KC Overseas attended the prestigious 75th NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo held from 30th May to 2nd June in Washington, DC. This global event is renowned for bringing together thousands of professionals from across the field.
NAFSA 2023 was attended by over 8,500 international educators from more than 100 nations. It provided a platform for discovering the latest innovations, proven strategies, and best practices in the field of international education.
Sessions at NAFSA featured esteemed international education leaders and changemakers from around the globe, facilitating knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities. Attendees engaged in fruitful discussions, establishing connections that are essential for professional growth and success.
One of the key highlights of this grand event was the comprehensive discussion on the International Student Recruitment Landscape. Focused on the sector's post-pandemic recovery, increased global competition, emerging trends, and recruitment strategies, these conversations provided valuable insights to propel the future of international education.
Renowned U.S. Senator Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) made a significant announcement during the conference, reiterating his commitment to passing the Senator Paul Simon Study Abroad Program Act. His dedication to making U.S. higher education more accessible to international students was met with great enthusiasm. Moreover, the streamlining of U.S. student visa processes was also discussed, promising to facilitate a smoother experience for aspiring students.
In an exciting turn of events, the U.S. Department of Commerce revealed its recognition of international education as a national export strategy for the first time. This groundbreaking inclusion will foster increased engagement across the federal government, further bolstering the importance of international education in the United States.
Mrs. Nalini Agrawal, Co-founder of KC Overseas Education, shared her experience of attending NAFSA 2023. Expressing her thoughts, she stated “NAFSA was very encouraging as I could see the US universities and institutions taking keen interest in international student recruitment from India, South-East Asia, and Africa. I met representatives from various universities and discussed insights about their eligibility criteria and requirements. Furthermore, I also conveyed the challenges faced by students of India, Southeast Asia & Africa and discussed probable solutions to tackle these challenges.
