In the recent Rajya Sabha meeting, the Ministry of State for External Affairs presented the latest data on Indian students studying abroad in 2024. Responding to the query raised by MP Dr John Brittas, the Ministry of State for External Affairs showed that more than 13 Lakh Indian students are currently pursuing higher education abroad.
Canada tops the list with 4,27,000 Indian students, followed closely by the USA with 3,37,000 Indians pursuing higher education in the US Universities. The UK ranks third at 1,85,000 followed by Australia at 1,22,202 students.
The European study destination that has seen an impressive rise to fifth position is Germany, with 42,997 Indians already enrolled in German institutions so far.
The surge in Indian students studying abroad has been drastic compared to the pre-pandemic figures.
