Intakes at Deakin College, Melbourne

Deakin College intakes at Australia are offered three times a year - March, June, and October, giving international students multiple opportunities to begin their academic journey. These intakes align with the institution’s trimester system and are designed to provide flexibility and convenience for students planning their studies abroad. International students are advised to apply early to allow sufficient time for visa processing and enrolment procedures.

The March intake marks the start of the academic year. Classes typically commence in late February or early March and continue until late May or early June. This is the most popular intake among students.

The June intake, often referred to as the mid-year intake, usually starts in late June and concludes in September. It serves as a practical option for students who miss the March entry.

The October intake starts in late October and runs through to the final week of January the following year. This trimester is ideal for students who wish to fast-track their studies or begin later in the year.

FAQs

The key difference lies in the length of study. A Standard undergraduate course typically spans 12 months, while an Accelerated option is condensed into 8 months. Both follow the same curriculum, but the accelerated format moves at a faster pace for quicker completion.

Pathway programs serve as a stepping stone for applicants who do not qualify for direct entry. For undergraduate studies, the Diploma Programs allows students to transition directly into the second year of a bachelor’s course.

Progression requires meeting academic benchmarks set by the institution. This includes securing a minimum of 50% in assessments and passing all mandatory units. In addition to academic performance, adherence to attendance policies and meeting English language standards are also required.

To get a student ID card, the application form must be completed and submitted with a passport-size photo. For replacements, a $20 processing fee applies. Once approved, the ID card will either be sent by Australia Post (within 10–20 working days) or made available for collection at the campus reception.

Completion of the Diploma Program by itself does not grant eligibility for a Post-Study Work (PSW) visa. Eligibility is only established once both the Diploma Program and the subsequent bachelor's degree at Deakin University are successfully completed.
