Overview

UNSW College, owned by UNSW Sydney, was established in 1966 as the UNSW Institute of Languages, the College has played a key role in international education. With a strong history of supporting students from diverse backgrounds, the College provides high-quality pathway programs that prepare students for success at one of Australia’s leading Universities.
 

It was the first in Australia to introduce a Foundation Studies program and start a University language centre. Over the years, UNSW College has expanded its offerings to include Diplomas and fully online programs, making world-class education more accessible than ever.
 

With campuses in Sydney and programs available for online and global study, UNSW College has supported over 40,000 students in their transition to University. Its programs not only build academic knowledge and English language skills but also provide practical learning experiences and personal support, ensuring students feel confident and prepared for University life.

Intakes

Applying to UNSW College is simple, whether students are interested in a Pre-Master’s Program, Diploma, Foundation Studies, or Academic English. There are multiple intakes at UNSW College, providing flexibility for international students to start their studies at a convenient time.

All Pre-Master’s courses are offered during these intakes. Additionally, Diploma courses and Standard Plus Foundation programs are available in the May and August intakes.

Cost of Studying at UNSW College

UNSW College Sydney fees may vary based on the program, study load, and mode of study. International students need to pay an enrollment deposit, which can be used toward tuition and other fees.
 

Some additional costs may include student services, amenities, and health insurance. For Foundation Studies, 50% of the tuition fee is required upon acceptance. For Transition and Pre-Master’s Programs, full payment may be required upon acceptance.

Scholarships

UNSW College offers a range of scholarships to support international students enrolling in Pre-Master’s, Diploma, and Foundation Studies programs. These include Academic Scholarships, and International Student Awards, providing up to 15% contribution toward tuition fees.

Admission Requirement

At UNSW College, every application is carefully reviewed. Students receive an offer for the most suitable program based on their academic qualifications and English language test results. For students from India, specific admission requirements at UNSW College Sydney can be checked here.

Applicants must hold an Undergraduate degree from a recognized University or approved tertiary institution. Their coursework should include at least four units in fields such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Science, or other quantitative disciplines.

✅ IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5, with no individual score below 6.0 

✅ CBSE: Minimum B1/B2 average (best four subjects) ISC: 65% overall, with a B average in the top three subjects State Boards: 80%–90%, depending on the state, based on the best three subjects.

The newly refurbished UNSW College campus reflects the modern design of UNSW’s main campus. FAQ's

UNSW College provides two Degree Transfer options based on students’ academic preparedness. Degree Transfer Standard (12 months) – A one-year program for students who meet the standard entry requirements. Degree Transfer Extended (16 months) – A longer program designed for students who need additional academic preparation before progressing to university studies.

To advance to the next level at UNSW, students must fulfill the academic requirements of their program, including achieving a minimum grade of 50% and passing all required subjects. In addition, students must meet attendance and English language proficiency requirements as outlined in their course guidelines.

Students at UNSW College can only be enrolled in one program at a time. However, they have the option to apply for another program upon completing their current course.

UNSW College offers comprehensive support for under-18 students, including welfare and guardianship services. Students have access to academic mentoring, personal counseling, and 24/7 emergency assistance. The college also arranges suitable accommodation, such as homestay or approved student housing, ensuring a smooth transition into university life in Australia.

The Degree Transfer Program at UNSW College is part of a combined academic pathway leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Students will be eligible for a 2-year or 3-year Post-Study Work (PSW) visa only after successfully completing both the Degree Transfer Program and the corresponding bachelor's or master’s degree at UNSW.
