The University of Alberta (U of A) is one of Canada's leading Public Research Universities. Intakes

University of Alberta fees for international students at the Undergraduate level are determined through a program-based model. Specific tuition amounts are outlined in the Offer of Admission letter. University of Alberta fees for Indian students are the same as international students.
 

To accept an admission offer, new Undergraduate students are required to pay a non-refundable tuition deposit to secure their place and facilitate course registration. For international students, this deposit is 5,000 CAD. It is credited toward the total tuition fee and is essential for obtaining the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) for the study permit application. The University offers multiple payment methods like CIBC, Convera, PayMyTuition, Visa Debit or Credit card.

Admission Requirements

The University of Alberta follows a tradition of academic excellence to welcome a diverse cohort of international students to its Undergraduate programs. Students are evaluated based on their complete academic history, focusing on three primary areas like completion of required subjects, English language proficiency, and overall academic performance. ✅ Indian students need to have a minimum score of 80% in grade 12th and 85% in grade 10th. This overall aggregate must be for five academic subjects.
✅ Mathematics is required for all courses except A

✅ IELTS: University of Alberta IELTS requirements include 6.5 overall with no bands less than 6.
✅ TOEFL: 90 overall is required with no individual scores less than 21.
✅ PTE Academic: 61 overall is required with no individual scores less than 60. 
✅ Duolingo: 120 overall is required.

The University has over 450 student-run clubs and organizations for academic pursuits, cultural affiliations, recreational activities, and social causes. Throughout the year, the campus remains lively with events such as cultural festivals, guest lectures, and workshops.

Athletics and recreation are integral components of campus life. Common FAQs

The minimum GPA requirement for eligibility into the Co-op Program at the University of Alberta is 2.3. However, the actual admission cut-off may be higher depending on the specific discipline and the competitiveness of applicants.

Students admitted to the Mechanical Engineering - Alternate Format program are required to attend courses year-round without semester breaks. The Alternate Format program is commonly referred to as Mechanical Trad 2 within the University.

Program decisions are final and cannot be appealed. However, after completing one year in their assigned program, students may apply for a transfer to a different program.

Upon application, students receive an email containing their UAlberta Campus Computing ID (CCID). This CCID serves as their login credential for the University of Alberta email account. To access the email account, students must go to the U of A webpage and click on the magnifying glass. Then under ‘Quick Links,’ select ‘Email + Apps’ and click on ‘University Gmail’ in the top left corner to log in.
