The University of Guelph offers one major and two minor intakes each year. The Fall intake (September) is the primary admission period, with the course schedule released by late February. The Winter intake (January) with its course schedule is available by mid-October.

The University of Guelph follows a semester-based billing system, allowing students to pay tuition at the start of each semester rather than one large upfront payment. Fees vary based on factors such as academic program, cohort year, course load, and additional selections. Moreover, the University of Guelph application fee for most programs is Can$ 123.
 

Co-op students pay fees based on their program structure. If a student remains in the co-op program but discontinues all courses for the semester, they are eligible for a full refund of the co-op academic fee during the 100% Tuition Refund period. Additionally, international students paying fees are automatically enrolled in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) for healthcare coverage during their studies.

Scholarships Available

The University of Guelph offers financial aid through scholarships and bursaries. In recent years, 94% of first-year international applicants received a scholarship with their admission offer. Most scholarships do not require an application, with selection based on academic performance, letters of reference, and a review of the admission package.
 

Eligible students may receive University of Guelph Scholarships of up to $42,500, which include a summer research assistantship, mentorship, and guaranteed first-choice residence for the first year. Admission Requirement

The University of Guelph requirements for international students vary based on the chosen program. Applicants whose first language is not English need to submit results from a standardized academic English Language test or complete the English Language Certificate Program offered by the University. Students can apply online at least nine months in advance of the University of Guelph application deadline. Indian students can check the specific entry requirements for both Postgraduate and Undergraduate programs here.  

✅ Applicants must hold an honours degree with a minimum of 70% or higher in the final two years of full-time study from a recognized university or institution.

✅ A three-year degree is also acceptable if the institution is NAAC ‘A’ accredited (applicable to students from India and Bangladesh).

✅Candidates must have completed a certain number of courses related to their chosen discipline. 

✅ IELTS: Overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0 
✅ PTE: Overall score of 60, with no individual component below 60 
✅ TOEFL (Internet-based & Home Edition): Total score of 89, with no individual section below 21 
✅ DET: Overall score of 120 (individual sub-scores may be considered)

✅ Early Admission Consideration: Students may submit verified Class 10 board results along with predicted Class 12 grades provided by their school. These grades must meet the prerequisite requirements for the selected degree program. The final Class 12 Board Exam Certificate must be submitted upon completion in May/June.
