Overview

The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) was established in June 1990 after the members of the British Columbia legislative assembly passed the UNBC Act.  Since then, UNBC has become one of the best small universities in the country. The university is known for teaching and research excellence. The university has 4 campuses, with Prince George’s as the main campus and 3 regional campuses in Peace River Liard, Northwest, and South Central. The campus has a wide range of facilities like gardens, labs, library, teaching centres, and much more.

The University of Northern British Columbia intakes have a first and second deadline. The first deadline is when the application should be submitted for guaranteed consideration for admission as well as certain scholarships. The second deadline is an extension for some courses, but certain courses are only offered in this second deadline. Not all the courses have a second deadline.

The UNBC tuition fee for an international student differs for Master’s and Bachelor’s courses. Students also need to pay an admission deposit on both levels, and it differs accordingly. Students also have to pay a certain amount for their British Columbia Medical Services Plan Fee each month as a University of Northern British Columbia cost, along with the tuition fees. International students need to pay their fees within 2 weeks after they get the confirmation of admission, which can be extended in some cases.

Admission Requirements

University of Northern British Columbia’s admission process for international students is similar for the Graduate and Undergraduate levels. A key difference is that the University of Northern British Columbia requirements for international students includes references that students provide while applying at the Graduate level. Students may need academic and professional references based on their choice of course.
 

When it comes to transcripts, students do not need official transcripts during the application. Official transcripts are only required after the student has received their offer. Given below are the admission requirements for Indian students applying for admission at the Graduate and Undergraduate levels

 

✅ A 4-year bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum score of 75%. 
✅ Some programs may require work experience of a minimum 2 years.

✅ GMAT: Students are required to have a score of 550.

✅ IELTS: An overall band score of 7.0 is required, with a minimum band score of 6.0
✅ PTE Academic: A total score of 65 is required.
✅ TOEFL iBT: A score of 94 overall is needed.
✅ DET: A total score of 130 is required for the test.

✅ In Grade 12, students need 65% or higher.
✅ For Engineering programs, students are required to have Mathematics.
✅ Pre-calculus maths or mathematics may be required in certain programs.

✅ IELTS: An overall score of 6.5 is required, with a minimum band score of 5.5
✅ PTE Academic: A total score of 59 is required

Yes. Fitness classes are available at no cost to students, staff, and faculty. Yoga classes are offered at a fee of $50 per semester.

External scholarships are intended to allow students to focus fully on their academic pursuits. As such, students are generally not encouraged to engage in University of New Brunswick (UNB) employment exceeding 10 hours per week. In exceptional circumstances, additional hours may be approved by the student’s supervisor or program director. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the external scholarship.

Yes. A non-refundable application fee must be submitted with the application it is $125.00 for international applicants.

If a student's IT services are frozen and they are subsequently de-registered from courses, they will lose access to Desire2Learn, computer labs, library resources, and email services. Their courses will be removed from their academic record, and they will be ineligible to access University Recreation services and health insurance benefits. Reinstatement may incur a re-registration fee of $125.
