Overview
2020 marked the beginning of a new era in India's rise as a global education destination. With the enactment of the National Education Policy 2020 and the efforts of the University Grants Commission (UGC), India gave the green light to foreign universities to establish campuses, positioning the country as a global education hub. Leading the way in this transformation, the University of Southampton became the first Foreign Higher Education Institution to establish its campus in Delhi-NCR in 2025.
The University of Southampton, UK, is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. The university began as a small institution called the Hartley Institution in 1862. To align with the duration of internationally recognized UK degrees, bachelor’s degree programs last for three years, while master’s degree programs last for one year.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for students from India are as follows.
- Applicants are required to have a 2:1 honors degree or an international equivalent.
- The qualification should be in a relevant subject such as Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Information Systems, Management, Social Sciences, Humanities, or Languages.
Applicants are required to have one of the three requirements to prove English Language Proficiency:
- IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.
- An approved English language qualification.
- A degree taught and assessed in English that was completed within the last 2 years before enrollment.
- Applicants from CBSE/CISCE board are required to have an aggregate of 78% overall in Class XII and 75% in Class X
- Mathematics. Applicants with state boards are required to have an aggregate of 83% overall in Class XII and 75% in Class X Mathematics.
- Applicants applying through IB Boards are required to have 34 points, including 17 points at Higher Level.
- Applicants should have achieved AAB in A-Level subjects along with at least a Grade B in GCSE Mathematics.
Applicants are required to have one of the two requirements to prove English language proficiency:
- IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.
- 70% in the English language in CBSE or CISCE.
