Overview
Founded in 1911 on the banks of the Swan River, the University of Western Australia in Perth became the first university in Western Australia. This university pioneered higher education opportunities in the state for students who had to travel interstate for education. In 1913, the university opened its doors to students and began educational offerings with just 184 students across Engineering, Science, and Arts. The University of Western Australia became a member of the Group of Eight when the coalition was formally incorporated in 1999. A major milestone will be added to the university’s legacy when it launches its first international campus in India in September 2026.
The University of Western Australia will be the first Group of Eight university to establish a teaching campus in India. Through this initiative, the university aims to broaden access to world-class education and deepen its engagement with the rapidly growing Asian higher education landscape. Mumbai and Chennai have been chosen as the locations for the India campuses. While Mumbai is known as the financial capital of India, Chennai is one of the country's major technological powerhouses. Admission Requirements
