Academic Requirement

Medical Certificate Requirement 

English Language Proficiency Test Requirement 

To meet the admission requirements for New Zealand Airline Academy include a Class 2 medical or Class 1 medical for CPL of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAA NZ). Students need to submit the highest educational certificate from their home country, and meet the English Language requirements for a Level 5 program. Given below are the admission requirements that Indian students need to meet to study at the Academy. &nbsp;

The cost to study at the New Zealand Airline Academy differs for students from different countries. Students can pay their fees in 2 ways. &nbsp;One is that they can pay their fees into the Public Trust Account. The receipt of the fee payment needs to be attached to their student visa application. &nbsp;Another way is where students apply for a visa without paying the fees, and after the visa has a status of ‘Approved in Principle’, students can pay from the source mentioned on their visa application. The academy will send the receipt once the funds are received in the Public Trust account. &nbsp;Apart from the tuition fees, students also plan for the CAA NZ medicals, which have a registration fee and a doctor’s fee. &nbsp;The doctor’s fee may vary depending on the country, but this step is a valuable investment in ensuring your health and eligibility for flight training in New Zealand. &nbsp;

Life at New Zealand Airline Academy

No prior flying experience is required, but possessing PPL theory knowledge or flight hours may facilitate the admission process.

Do students need prior flying experience to apply to the New Zealand Airline Academy?

Certain theoretical modules may be undertaken without a medical certificate, but an appropriate certificate (Class 2 for PPL or Class 1 for CPL) is mandatory before initiating flight training.

Can training commence without a Medical Certificate?

Training cannot proceed without the required medical certificate. In such cases, candidates may seek medical intervention or consider alternative career options.

What if a candidate fails the Medical Examination?

Credit transfers may be possible, subject to training record evaluation and CAA approval. Each case is reviewed individually by NZAAL admissions.

Can credits from other Flight Schools be transferred?

There is no strict upper age limit. But airlines often prefer younger pilots for career longevity. The primary considerations are medical fitness and the ability to complete training.

Is there a maximum age limit for applying to the Academy?

New Zealand Airline Academy Intakes are throughout the year for international students. The Academy has an enrollment process for students that begins with filling the enrollment form, followed by submitting the documents, attending an online interview with trainers and ending with the visa application process.&nbsp; &nbsp;

The Academy has rolling intakes with all the programs available for students throughout the year.&nbsp;

New Zealand Airline Academy, Oamaru

The New Zealand Airline Academy (NZAAL) was established in 2000 by aviation professionals with over three decades of experience. Its founding members conducted extensive research before deciding to base aviation training in New Zealand, aiming to provide high-quality pilot education to international students planning to study in New Zealand. &nbsp;Located within the airport terminal of Oamaru Airport in the Waitaki region, the academy benefits from a unique campus environment. Oamaru is the third-largest town in the Otago region, providing a strategic and accessible location for students from across the globe to pursue aviation studies. &nbsp;Academically, the New Zealand Airline Academy is recognized by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). It offers a comprehensive range of education and training programs tailored to prepare students for careers in aviation. Nearly all International students at the academy retain or gain their aviation licenses signifying the quality of education offered to students who study at New Zealand Airline Academy. &nbsp;

In addition to its diverse range of courses, the New Zealand Airline Academy provides comprehensive support for students in various aspects of their campus life, including accommodations and beyond. &nbsp;

NZAAL has boarding and lodging services at Aviator’s Place in the town of Oamaru. Each student is provided with a room that is fully furnished with a bed, study table, and wardrobe. They also have shared rooms for 2 students in one room. The rooms also have internet access. Meals and weekly room cleaning are also included in the accommodation cost, along with transportation from Aviator’s Place to the airport and vice versa.

New Zealand Airline Academy offers a van service that transports students from their accommodation to the airport at particular times in the day.

Transportation Service

There is a gym on the campus that students can use, or they can opt for a gym off-campus that is close to the Academy.

Student Fitness

The New Zealand Airline Academy courses include pilot licenses, which cover theoretical exams, flying hours, and a flight test. &nbsp;Along with pilot training, students can also pursue advanced ratings and certifications that prepare them for specialized roles and even commercial-level flying once they gain the required experience on specific aircraft. &nbsp;The Academy also offer MCC/JOC courses that help students progress seamlessly from training aircraft to an advanced commercial jet. It also teaches the operational nuances of a modern jet and how to coordinate with the crew in the cockpit. &nbsp;
