Overview

Established in May 2016 through the merger of Waiariki Institute of Technology and Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology has swiftly become a foundation of vocational and applied education in New Zealand. As one of the largest tertiary education providers in the country, it serves over 14,000 students, including more than a significant number of international learners choosing to study at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology.  

The Institute is spread across five main campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa, and Whakatāne. The Rotorua campus, Mokoia, is situated just 5 km from the city centre. Tauranga's Windermere Campus spans 24 hectares of landscaped grounds and features modern facilities.

Toi Ohomai offers a diverse range of programs across various disciplines, which are delivered through three faculties. Additionally, the Institute is committed to research and innovation, exceeding its 2023 target for external research income by earning $13.7 million.

Intake to study at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology offers a flexible academic calendar with multiple intakes throughout the year. This structured intake system provides international students with greater opportunities to begin their academic journey as per their personal and professional timelines. Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology intakes occur in February, July, May and November, ensuring year-round access to quality education.

The February and July intakes are the most comprehensive intakes that offer the broadest range of Postgraduate, Undergraduate, Postgraduate Diplomas and Undergraduate Diplomas. The February intake marks the start of New Zealand’s academic year, while the January intake allows students to start later in the year without waiting for the next full cycle.
 

The May intake primarily supports students enrolling in focused Postgraduate coursework with Degree and PG Diploma options. The November intake is suitable for select specialized programs and late-year enrolments with certain Postgraduate, Undergraduate and PG Diploma options available.

Cost to Study at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology

Once the student has received approval in principle, they are required to pay the tuition fee for at least one year.  The enrollment is contingent upon the receipt of full payment in accordance with the offer of place. Admission Requirements at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology
