Overview

Started in 1964, the University of Waikato is one of the top Universities in New Zealand and worldwide. It was the fastest-growing university in New Zealand by the 1980s.
 

The 2 campuses of the University are located in the heart of major cities Hamilton and Tauranga which are in the center of the country’s export-reliant economy. These campuses include the Management School of the university which has achieved Triple Crown Accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. It is part of the top 1% of business schools worldwide.
 

The University of Waikato New Zealand has a major focus on creating a positive impact through research and education and to that end they are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. It is also a leader in Indigenous studies in New Zealand with leading researchers in concerns of Māori and Pacific Development, culture and language revitalization, and Indigenous studies.
 

The University of Waikato is a moderately selective university with an acceptance rate between 60 and 70%. It is home to more than 13,000 domestic and international students combined. It offers programs that are geared toward the future, promote innovation, and are recognized globally for excellence. The University of Waikato's rankings reflect that it is an internationally recognized University. Many subjects offered by this University rank high in the QS World University Subject Rankings and have a 5-star rating as well.

Intakes

The University of Waikato processes international student applications on an ongoing basis. Students can apply online and offers are made by the University keeping the international student visa processing times in mind. In some cases students may receive an offer for a later intake than originally requested.
 

For Research or Thesis programs students need to complete the online application before the deadline. If the application meets the University of Waikato intake requirements but is received after the deadline it will be considered in the next round or if space is available.

 

The University has major intakes in the months of February and July, 145 Masters 130 Bachelors, and 129 PG Diploma courses are available during these intakes.

The University has one minor intake in November where students can apply for 29 Masters and 12 Bachelors courses.

Cost to Study at University of Waikato

The cost to study at the University of Waikato varies depending on the level of study, and the number of papers in each year of study. The University of Waikato tuition fees for international students is calculated per paper basis. Apart from that there maybe certain additional fees for university services.
     
Once students accept the offer from the University, they have to pay the tuition fee for the first year of study or the first program of study listed on their offer. Admission Requirements

The University of Waikato Admission requirements for international students differ depending on the level of study. Students who do not meet the academic or English language requirements can apply for pathway programs. Students who are interested in short-term study, with an opportunity to transfer the credits back to their home institution, can check for Study Abroad & Exchange Programs.

✅Recognized Bachelors degree with a B-/B/B+ average and same average in a relevant subject. (may differ depending on the course)

✅ For IELTS students need an overall score of 6.5 with a minimum band score of 6.0
✅ For TOEFL iBT students need an overall score of 90 with a minimum score of 21 in writing
