Oxford Brookes University originated as the Oxford School of Art in 1865. It attained university status in 1992 and was named in honour of its founding principal, John Brookes. It has three campuses in Oxford—Headington, Harcourt Hill—along with a Swindon site dedicated to adult nurse training.
