Intakes

University College Birmingham intakes are divided into Major and Minor categories. Students are advised to carefully choose an intake which fits their requirements and availability.

September is considered to be the primary intake that caters to all programs at both Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels.

January is the smaller intake provided by the institution. During this time, only select Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses are open for academic enrolment.  

Cost to Study at University College Birmingham, UK

University College Birmingham Cost varies depending on the level of study and the chosen program. All international students are required to make a deposit to accept an offer. A payment of at least 50% of the published University College Birmingham tuition fees is required before a Confirmation of Acceptance (CA) is issued, and 60% must be paid prior to enrolment.
The university does not accept cash or cheque payments for tuition or accommodation fees. Students can use the Flywire method to make secure payments.

Scholarships Available

University College Birmingham scholarships include a wide range of opportunities for international students. Scholarships are available for all new international students who make their fee payment before the specified deadline. In addition, there are awards for students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a commitment to community development.
 

The university also offers scholarships for international postgraduate students who show dedication to sustainable development. Furthermore, students progressing from an International Foundation Diploma to an Undergraduate Program, or from an Undergraduate Program to a Postgraduate Program, are eligible for tuition fee scholarships of either 25% or 20%, depending on their academic performance.

Admission Requirements

University College Birmingham admission requirements vary depending on the level of study and the chosen program. The university accepts a wide range of qualifications from students around the world. In addition to academic qualifications, students must demonstrate English language proficiency through recognized tests. Certain courses may also have specific entry requirements, which applicants need to meet to be considered for admission. Student life and overall student support at University College Birmingham are centrally coordinated by the Student Engagement Team. This team serves as a single point of contact for students throughout their university journey, offering advice, guidance and practical help with academic, financial or personal matters.

University College Birmingham students can dive into a variety of enriching experiences through the UCB Guild’s student groups. Whether you’re drawn to societies exploring culture, hobbies, or shared identities, sports clubs offering competitive or social play, school-based communities, or liberation campaigns championing key student identities. Plus, students are supported in starting new groups, with training and guidance from the Guild’s Communities Team.

The Learning Hub provides guidance on academic skills such as essay and report writing, presentations, task breakdown, editing, proofreading and formatting. On campus, students benefit from quiet study areas, collaborative break-out zones and glazed pods for group work. Library services include thousands of print and digital resources, supported by research specialists. In addition, students have access to high specification PCs, self-study laptop zones and dedicated support through the Centre for Academic Skills and English as well as mentoring programmes that encourage personalized academic development.

University accommodation can house over 800 students, with first-year learners guaranteed a place at The Maltings. Rooms are fully equipped with essential furnishings, including a bed, study area, wardrobe, and Wi-Fi connectivity. En-suite options offer additional privacy with a personal shower, toilet, and washbasin. To support daily living, the residence also provides access to commercial laundry facilities fitted with both washing and drying machines, creating a comfortable and convenient environment for students.

University College Birmingham offers a free, confidential Health & Wellbeing Service open to all students, promoting healthy lifestyles and positive psychological health. The service includes a Psychological Health and Wellbeing team, which begins support with an initial assessment to ensure students receive appropriate help. Additionally, the university provides nurse and medical services for practical health advice, and guidance on maintaining wellness through lifestyle tips on diet, exercise, sleep, and more.

FAQs

All international students are required to make a minimum deposit payment of £1,000 to accept their offer. A payment of at least 50% of the published tuition fee is required before a CAS can be issued, and a payment of at least 60% of the published tuition fee must be made before enrolment.

If the cancellation is made before a CAS is issued, the university reserves the right to retain an administrative fee of £250. If the cancellation is made after a CAS has been issued but prior to enrolment, an administrative fee of £1,000 will be retained. In cases where a student does not enroll or defers and does not re-enroll for more than four semesters after the date of the deposit payment, they will forfeit the right to receive a refund of any tuition fees paid.

Payments can be made through Flywire, bank transfer, debit card, or credit card.

The nearest airport to the university is Birmingham Airport (BHX).

If a student does not attend the graduation ceremony, the certificate will be posted to their home address after the event.
