Overview

The University of Surrey was founded in September 1966 with the grant of its Royal Charter, but its history dates back to the late 19th century when it aimed to provide better access to higher education for London’s working-class population. In 2016, the University celebrated 125 years since its foundation. Surrey has two main campuses - Stag Hill and Manor Park. Both are close to Guildford town centre. Stag Hill is the academic centre, while Manor Park offers student housing, sports facilities, and research spaces. The University of Surrey is planning to have a campus in Gujarat, India in 2026-27.  It hosts around 16,277 students from over 185 nationalities, creating a diverse and welcoming environment.  Surrey is ranked among the top Universities in UK and offers a variety of programs. Cost to Study at University of Surrey

The University of Surrey tuition fees for Postgraduate programs depends on the course and duration, as the University offers both one-year and two-years Masters with placement year. The tuition fees for undergrads vary based on the course type, study level, and duration. Even within the same course, tuition may vary depending on options like Honours (3 years), Honours with Placement (4 years), Honours with Foundation Year (4 years), or Honours with Foundation and Placement Year (5 years).

 

Students can study abroad if they are full-time undergraduate students at the University of Surrey or on a 15-Month Master's program with Study Abroad. In such cases they need to be able to cover the cost of  studying abroad including travel, living,  accommodation, and visa documentation expenses. Students are expected to pay their fees upon arrival or provide proof of a scholarship covering full tuition. In addition to the University of Surrey fee, some faculties may charge modest fees for supplementary materials or services, depending on the course requirements.

Scholarships Available

The University of Surrey scholarships offer financial support to eligible Postgraduate and Undergraduate taught students. Scholarships are available through both University-funded and external sources, covering various categories such as country-specific awards, academic excellence, program-based scholarships, and funding exclusively for women.

 

Eligible students can receive tuition fee support of 50% of the Tuition Fees. Moreover, those who have completed their Undergraduate Degree at the University may be eligible for a discount on tuition fees when enrolling in a Taught Postgraduate Program.

Admission Requirement

The University of Surrey entry requirements vary by level of study and course. International students must meet the University of Surrey English language requirements as well. Those who do not meet the criteria can enrol in pre-sessional English courses to develop the necessary language skills. ✅ IELTS: Overall score required is 6 with a minimum band score of 6
✅ PTE: Overall score required is 67 with a minimum component score of 64
✅ TOEFL iBT: Overall score required is 88 with a minimum component score of 19.
 

Note: The university can waive the English language requirement if the student’s 12th-grade English scores meet the criteria, depending on the education board.

English Waiver is possible if student has 70% in 12th board exam English from CBSE/ISC boards and 80% in 12th board exam English from the majority of Indian state boards.
