Overview

California State University, Fresno, commonly known as Fresno State, was originally established in 1911 under the name Fresno State Normal School. It transitioned into a Teacher’s College in 1921 and began granting advanced degrees in 1949. The university is widely recognized by its nickname, Fresno State, and its official mascot is the Bulldog.

 

Cal State Fresno is part of the California State University system, which is among the largest higher education networks globally. The University holds accreditation from both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the California Board of Education. It also offers 26 academic departments with nationally recognized accreditations, placing it among the top CSU campuses in terms of accredited programs.
