Overview

The University of Delaware (UD), established in 1743 as a private academy, has grown into a research-intensive, technologically advanced institution with a global impact. As the first US institution to introduce study abroad programs in 1923, UD continues to lead in international education. Intakes

The University of Delaware USA offers three intakes — one major and two minor. Admission decisions are released on a rolling basis, meaning the earlier students apply, the sooner they will know if the University could be a part of their future.

All Undergraduate programs are offered in both Fall and Spring intakes except BS in Nursing which is available only in the Fall intake.

Cost to Study at University of Delaware

The University of Delaware tuition fees for international students are flexible, with academic-year expenses based on full-time attendance for two semesters. Scholarships

The University of Delaware scholarships for international students provide excellent opportunities to support academic journeys. All freshman global applicants are automatically considered for scholarships, with no separate application required. Awards range from $5,000 to $18,000 per year.
 

Additionally, international students can compete for UD's prestigious Distinguished Scholars scholarships, which recognize exceptional talent from around the world. These scholarships can cover tuition, room, and board for four years, provided students maintain a certain score.

Admissions

The University of Delaware acceptance rate is 66%, making it important for international students to meet the admission criteria. For those who are conditionally admitted but are still working toward the required language proficiency, UD offers the Graduate Pathways program. This intensive, one-semester (4-month) program helps students prepare for full admission into participating graduate programs. Students from India can conveniently check their eligibility for both Postgraduate and Undergraduate programs through the University’s official portal.

Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required in 12th grade for admission 

Submission of SAT or ACT scores is optional. For those who choose to submit the scores:
✅ SAT score needs to be between 1170 and 1350 
✅ The ACT score should fall between 26 and 31.

IELTS: An overall band score of 6.5 is accepted. 
TOEFL iBT: An overall score of 79 or more is required. 
PTE Academic: A minimum score of 53 is accepted. 
Duolingo English Test (DET): An overall score of 105 is accepted.
