Intakes

The University of Massachusetts Amherst offers two major intakes for international students. Applications submitted by the priority date receive full consideration for admission to selective majors, while those submitted after are reviewed based on available space. Some programs may reach capacity before the UMass Amherst application.

Fall intake which is in September offers mostly all the programs across all study levels. Spring intake beginning in February offers most of the programs again except a few which are available only in the Fall Intake.

Cost to Study at UMass Amherst

At UMass Amherst tuition fees for international students vary based on enrollment status. Graduate students enrolled in 9+ credits are considered full-time. Each semester, Graduate students are charged one waivable and one optional fee.
 

For international students, the Student Health Benefit Plan is mandatory. However, students with a comparable US health plan can waive this fee by visiting the University Health Services Office. Scholarships at UMass Amherst

Admission Requirement

The University of Massachusetts Amherst admissions requirements focus on sustained involvement and achievement in academics, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, employment, and volunteer work. All non-native English speakers need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency.

To confirm their place in the program, accepted students are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500. This amount is credited towards their tuition fee for the first semester.

Students need to either complete the Required Immunizations Form, signed by a certified medical professional, or obtain official vaccination records. These documents should then be uploaded to the UMass Patient Portal by logging in with their NetID and selecting Action Items > Immunizations. Record verification may take up to two weeks.
