As such the New Zealand government is urging students to submit their applications at least three months before their expected start date. Early submission is vital to avoid delays due to the anticipated surge in applications during this time.

For students aiming to begin their studies in early 2025, applying well in advance increases their chances of receiving a timely decision. The current processing time for New Zealand student visa applications is around five weeks as of August 2024.
