Intakes

The University of Leeds offers a major intake in September, marking the beginning of the academic year in autumn. For Postgraduate programs, students can apply directly to the University, while Undergraduate applicants are required to apply through UCAS for full-time courses.

As this is the only intake, all Postgraduate and Undergraduate programs are available for international students.

Cost to Study at University of Leeds, UK

The University of Leeds sets tuition fees independently for Master’s programs, with course-specific rates reviewed annually. International students applying for a taught Master’s degree and requiring a UK Student visa need to pay some tuition fee deposit to receive a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

Scholarships Available

The University of Leeds offers scholarships to support international students applying for Masters and Undergraduate programs. These include Merit-based, Region-specific, Subject-specific, Research-focused, and Sports scholarships. Eligible students can receive up to 50% tuition fee reductions.
 

Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, personal achievements, and future potential. Most scholarships require a separate application, so students are encouraged to check the specific criteria and deadlines.

Admission Requirements

To secure admission at the University of Leeds, students need to meet the general entry requirements along with the English language proficiency criteria. For those who do not meet the required English language level, the University offers pre-sessional English courses or Pathway programmes designed to improve academic English and study skills before beginning a degree program. Indian students interested in securing admission in University of Leeds can review specific entry requirements for both Master’s and Undergraduate programs here.

 

✅ Applicants are expected to have secured between 60% to 65% in their Undergraduate studies, depending on the specific course requirements.

✅ IELTS: Minimum overall score of 6.5, with no individual band score lower than 6.0 (course-specific).
✅ TOEFL: Overall score of 88, with a minimum of 19 in each component.
✅ PTE: A total score of 64 or above, with at least 60 in each section.

✅ Students who achieved 70% to 75% in 12th Std English may be eligible for a waiver of the English language proficiency test depending on the boards.

✅Applicants usually need to have scored between 60-85% overall average, with 75-90% in two relevant subjects and above in their A-Level or equivalent qualifications, depending on the chosen course.

✅ IELTS: A minimum overall score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each band (depending on the program).
✅ TOEFL: An overall score of 80, with a minimum of 17 in each section.
✅ PTE: Overall score of 60, with no component below 59.

✅ A waiver for English proficiency tests may be considered for students who have achieved 70% to 75% in relevant academic subjects, depending on the boards.

For Postgraduate courses, there is no application fee when applying directly. However, undergraduate applications must be submitted through UCAS, which involves a fee of £28.50. This fee allows applicants to apply to up to five universities.
